Diana is one of the most experienced trauma therapists you will find. Period. She is devoted to giving hope, healing and help to individuals, couples and families suffering from complex trauma. Drawing from a wealth of professional experience with and personal healing from trauma, Diana creates an environment of safety and compassion where clients can leave behind the pain from the past that shackles present emotions and leaves a cloud of fear over the future. Her breadth of knowledge in integrating various trauma-focused techniques means that Diana has a wealth of resources to address trauma with skill and grace. She has the cultivated ability to keep an eye on her client’s tolerance of painful memories and triggers while balancing humor, authenticity and encouragement to calm the emotional storms.
Diana is a highly certified and well regarded professional in the field of trauma counseling. She is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Clinician and Supervisor. Dr. Mille has previously served as Visiting Professor at Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT., where she taught Assessment, Couples, Research, Internship and Human Sexuality and has worked as a LMFT and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) trauma therapist at Collaborative Counseling Group, Trumbull, CT., Fairfield Counseling Services, Fairfield, CT., and St. Vincent’s Behavioral Services, Intensive Outpatient, Bridgeport, CT.
As a full member of EMDRIA, EMDR International Association and clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the International Family Therapy Association (IFTA), Dr. Mille has regularly presented at the International Family Therapy Association Conferences since 2009 and has authored and co-authored articles in multiple journals. Diana holds a PhD in Art History from City University of New York and taught on this topic at Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT, for over 20 years. Her transition from Art Historian to Marriage and Family Therapist was a natural segue for her - art, to Diana, is one of the most powerful means of a culture to express and explore the challenges encountered while on the human psychological odyssey. How much poorer would our grasp of that odyssey be without Munch's Scream or Toni Morrison's Beloved? Art reflects and expands upon psychological experience, and it incarnates enduring philosophical - and religious - ideas for individuals to grasp and embrace.
